The main reason for the contamination of the print head is the adhesion and fouling of the back coating of the carbon ribbon.
Dirt builds up on the print head during continuous use, and the dirt accumulates on the heating points of the print head, blocking the heat transfer required for printing high-quality images. Dirt that builds up slowly can cause poor print quality such as weak print color or partial print failure. The light one causes blurred printing, and the heavy one causes the barcode to break the needle (broken line).
This accumulated dirt is difficult to remove with a cleaning swab soaked with common solvent. Therefore, it is very important to clean the print head of the printer regularly, just like we brush our teeth, we should clean it regularly.
For customers with high printing quality requirements, it is recommended to clean the ribbon every time it is replaced.
For general industrial customers, it is also recommended to clean the print head once a day.

Dedicated print head cleaning pen.
Or use a cleaning pen (Clean Pen) or a cleaning swab (Clean swab) dipped in a solvent (alcohol with a concentration of more than 95% or isopropyl alcohol with a purity of more than 90%). Use labelled alcohol-based cleaners that should be dispensed into bottles and do not re-moisten the cleaning materials used to clean the printer. The higher the solvent concentration, the better the dissolution effect of pollutants.
